BOOKS BY ORSON BEAN

M@IL FOR MIKEY

If even an atheist like Orson's late friend George Carlin was impressed by this book...could it hurt to browse a copy?

Who is Mikey? YOU are Mikey, really. Orson Bean sets his chapters up as e-mails, but they are really to YOU, the reader.

In each e-mail, he talks about love, relationships, and most of all, the question of God and religion. Who created all of this? Was Jesus the Son of God? Is there one faith?

From the big bang theory, to the importance of simply getting a bang out of life, Orson packs a lot of wit and wisdom into this unpretentious little book.

If you believe...if you don't believe...if you're passing a bookstore...grab a copy of this book!

ME AND THE ORGONE

"I was living, in those days, in an apartment in New York City that looked out onto the East River. My marriage of six years had busted up and my ex-wife had gone to live in, of all places, Africa, where she had a new French husband and a new life. For my part, I had a year-and-a-half old baby daughter, Michele, and a beautiful seventeen year-old Irish nanny to look after her....She had a rosy-cheeked, peasanty, droit-du-seigneur beauty and a body that made Raquel Welch look like a rake..."

Thus begins Orson's journey into the world of Reich therapy, the sexual revolution, depression, laughter and...as you can guess...a lot more. Originally published by St. Martin's Press, it's now available in a new edition from the American College of Orgonomy Press

TOO MUCH IS NOT ENOUGH

Orson's autobiography (Lyle Stuart, 1988) Publisher's Weekly fills you in:

In this amusing, moving and, at times, alarming autobiography, Bean (born Dallas Burrows) recalls suffering a mid-life crisis at age 52, then suddenly being surprised by an inexplicable joy that induced him to examine and right the direction of his life. Born in Vermont in l928, he grew up in a troubled home in Cambridge, Mass., where, when he was 16, his mother committed suicide. Leaving home, he adopted his show-biz name, went on the road with his magic/comedy routines, became famous for his agile wit and charm, and starred on stage and TV. Along the way, he married and divorced, remarried, had four children and divorced again. Then this self-styled dropout experimented with group sex and LSD to deadening effect. But now the ever-spunky Bean is back on track, he assures us, pursuing his boyhood goal "to be the happiest S.O.B. who ever lived."
